Absolutely the best Thai food you will ever get.

I've tried a lot of Thai restaurants in many different cities and this is one of the best! The massaman curry is a must .... book ahead and enjoy.

Food was fantastic!! Windows of the old building could use a cleaning. The dead flies in the old farm house look detracted from the evening.

Best Thai in the East!

It was our first time here and based on the reviews we were hopeful and I wanted so much to like it. The pad Thai was awful. The first few bites I thought this is awesome but the amount of oil in the bottom of the plate was incredible. No flavor except my lips were dripping with oil.i asked for chili flakes to help the dish and was told no we can't do that.lol..really??my chicken was dry. My husband's dish the panang was ok but needed maybe a veggie in it. The rice portion was small. We are not going back and we will stick with thandis ..a much better place for sure

This place and its owners never fail. Truly the best in Thai in the province. An restaurant that delivers every time in one of the finest heritage properties in the city. Be forewarned, no social media profile that they manage, very old school, phone and make a reservation. :)

It was amazing as always. Love their chicken Satays, Pad Thai, Suwanna chicken , sour coconut soup, Massaman curry. Incredible service too. Foods always hot and served with courteous staff. Debbie is the best!

I have NO idea why this place is so highly rated! We had dinner here tonight for the first time and boy were we dissapointed. The pros: The matsamam curry had a great flavour but the chicken was bland and overdone. Also, the staff were very friendly so I added another star just for them. The cons: The rice (what little they give you) tasted like minute rice, it took 40 minutes for our food to come, our other main dish was awful (soggy and gross), the price (way too expensive for what we were served) and the decor and bathrooms were drab and dirty. I really wanted to like this place because everyone raves about it but, for the price it just is not up to snuff. I think the fact that the Westside is starved for good food makes this place more appealing but honestly, they can and should be doing A LOT better. The people of SJ need to stop settling for second rate food and start demanding more from our restaurateur's!

Best thai food in Saint John. This place has a very good reputation and long time regular customers. The building is from a older era with crown molding and cathedral ceilings. It has an old castle effect inside which looks amazing. Highly recommended restaurant for a unique experience.

Every time I come here, I’m never disappointed. The food is always amazing and the portions are quite big. The hours can be variable throughout the year so make sure you call ahead to make a reservation.

Great Thai food.

Suwanna's is always a treat to visit. Set in an old house you feel like a guest in friends dinning room. I am not sure when this restaurant opened exactly, though I know it's been over a decade and being a bit off the beaten track it has certain stood the test of time. That should give you a hint about the quality served here.My favourite dish is a spicy green curry, served up in a large portion I get to look forward to a leftover snack the next day. There were five of us on our recent visit to Suwanna's and everyone left satisfied. Apart from the delicious Thai food we had great service.One suggestion though, is to update a website! I can't find you on the worldwide web and all the Saint John visitors should know about this restaurant.

Have never had a bad meal from this restaurant. Food quality is always high, staff are not only friendly and courteous, but know the menu inside out and can help navigate new dishes. The Massaman curry is the best I have tasted anywhere in the World (and I have spent a good deal of time in Asia), and the Dragon Eggplant chicken has to be experienced, it can not be explained. Best way to experience this restaurant is in a group of 4 - 8 people, each with a different dish, and everyone shares a little of their own. Interesting deserts. Owners are genuinely good people who are interested in their customers, and the bed and breakfast which the restaurant operates out of is a historic building that has signifigant renovations that are faithful to the period. Great view of the falls to boot.

Best Thai food ever! You cannot go wrong with any meals here. The chocolate cheesecake is amazing. I never have room for dessert but trust me, you'll be happy you got it.

Disappointed this time. It has been a few years since I've been at the Suwanna Restaurant. I think good Thai Food needs Thai Basil. There was none in the curries. Hopefully if I go back the experience will be better. UPDATE: Went back a year later. Very disappointed in price vs quality. Thai dishes without Thai basil. Prices on average 22$. This is 10$ more than I pay in Ottawa. Have to say, Saint John has other options to consider. The owners are very nice. But that is not enough to go back.

Great food and great atmosphere

Easily the worst Pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was almost flavourless, like noodles with soya sauce and peanuts on them. The tofu was bland and tasted like it was cooked separately from the rest of the dish. Not worth $20.50, I've had better Thai food in a shopping mall.

This place is amazing! I live in Chicago and I have to say that this is by far the best thai food I have ever had! As a world traveler I've had thai food at many cities/countries and none have compared. Everytime I come back to SJ this is my go to spot!
